MEET COURTNEY STARKS: FOUNDER & CEO OF 'COURTNEY'S CORNER'

Courtney, tell us a little more about how you started 'Courtney's Corner'!

Created in 2008 then relaunched in 2018, the show was created to facilitate necessary conversations centered around issues that didn’t  get enough spotlight in the mainstream media.

Over the last two years, my team and I have covered topics including financial literacy, women's empowerment, suicide awareness and the relationship between the LBGTQ community and the Church just to name a few.

Currently, I am preparing for my third season.

Previous seasons can be found on YouTube.

Courtney's Corner has evolved from a passion project into a brand.

In 2019, the expansion to an LLC included hosting events like the Change Starts with Us Summit aimed at investing in the youth and surrounding communities, and launching a podcast.

The Uncensored Podcast debuted last summer.

The newest project, 'One on One with Courtney Starks' launched earlier this year.

You are truly a jack of all trades! Tell us some more about your 'Food & Clothing Drive'

The Food and Clothing Drive was inspired because of the pandemic.

I know that homeless and lack of essentials within the community has always been an issue but something within me woke up during the last few months that pushed me to see past just myself and my wants and hone into that he needs of the people I hear about and walk pass on a daily basis.

I realized that that our politicians and elected officials can not do for us what we need done in our communities and that’s to truly love and care for one another.

I believed that the only way to combat some of our issues are to rally together and be our brother and sisters keeper.

What would you say to aspiring creators who look up to your work?

For those who look up to me, I would say never allow anyone to dictate to you where they think your direction is.

People will always want to place you in a box or in someone else’s lane.

I challenge everyone hone into your gift and purpose and be a boss in your own lane.

Do you have anything new or upcoming we can expect to see from you?

Covid halted a few things but we are gearing up to finish where we left off with season three of Courtney’s Corner.

In December, we will be hosting our “Wonderland Extravaganza” which will be our toy drive and Christmas Spectacular.

If anyone would love to get in contact with me about being on the show, joining the team, or any other questions feel free to email us at Courtneyscorner89@gmail.com or follow us at @Courtneystarksofficial or @Courtneyscorner89 on Instagram.
