MEET AVA AMAR: FASHION MODEL

This is Ava.

Ava, tell us more about how you got into modeling.

Growing up, I used to watch America’s Next Model looking for tips from Tyra wondering if I can get to that level.

I was always just watching and never participating.

I watched models in my neighborhood walk in shows and have photo shoots.

One day, I built up the courage and decided that I was actually going to do it.

Starting out, it was horrible you could tell I was just an amateur who didn’t know anything about the modeling world.

I took a step back and made a plan to be more serious about my passion.

I have researched everything about modeling, from practicing poses to perfecting my walk.

Before I knew it, I was being published in magazines.

I got to be apart of fashion week in my city.

I’ve also had the pleasure of experiencing NYFW and more is yet to come.

What would you say is the most difficult aspect about launching a career in modeling?

The most difficult aspect is learning that women with darker skin tones are usually chosen last at times, unless you have something very unique about you.

Placing myself in a category where girls like myself are usually over looked and killing it speaks volumes.

Another difficulty, is having the support you need.

I believe anybody can make it if you have a strong stable support team.

I’m still working on getting that.

What sort of advice would you give aspiring models who look up to you?

The best advice I can give is to never count yourself out!

You are enough!

Don’t let your talent go to waste.

It’s always going to be someone who doesn’t get your ideas, hopes, and aspirations, but it’s up to you to show the creative process and goals you are trying to accomplish.

Do you have anything new or upcoming we can expect to see from you?

Yes!

I’ve recently landed some brand ambassador deals so the people will get to see me talking in front of the camera soon.

Also, I have some new photos coming out soon.

Be on the look out for that.
